From a very young age, Tristan Hibberd was introduced to the creative industry. Growing up in his family’s picture framing company, he would make things from any scraps he could find during the hours spent playing in the workshop. He says, ‘I vividly remember fearing a desk job and have continued to relentlessly pursue the arts ever since. I’ve worked on my bedroom floor to the garage and shed before finally my own studio space.’

Since completing his degree in furniture design, Tristan has explored many disciplines and regularly draws on these for inspiration. He is constantly inspired by his rural surroundings in Surrey and natural forms and biomimicry regularly inform his aesthetic styles but he also enjoys letting a piece of machinery or creative process guide the form of his work.

Tristan Hibberd considers himself a workshop-based creative and the majority of his ideas are developed through experimentation and practice. When exploring new ideas, he finds thinking in the third dimension with physical models the easiest way to work. He harbours a continuous desire to learn new processes and frequently undertake complicated projects in order to learn as much as possible.
