Victoria Meering

Victoria Meering is a self-taught artist based in Surrey. She embarked on her artistic journey from a young age, honing her skills through self-directed learning. Despite contending with autism and dyslexia, she forged a successful career in nursing before ultimately dedicating herself fully to her passion for art.

Under the theme of ‘Being In the Presence of Absence’, Victoria Meering creates work from the unseen and the inexpressible, engaging with what is not immediately apparent. Drawing inspiration from landscapes across the globe, her work transverses the boundaries between the tangible and the abstract. Through the blend of sculpted paints and textured pastes, she breathes life into canvases, distorting lines and blurring edges to a sense of mystery and wonder.

Her creative process is intuitive and organic, driven by a profound sense of curiosity and reverence for the environment. Through her art she seeks to evoke a sense of wonderment and introspection, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the landscape she portrays and discovered their own personal connections to the natural world. Whether depicting sweeping vistas or intimate details, each painting is a testament to the timeless beauty and resilience of our planet. Victoria Meering believes that art has the power to awaken our senses, ignite our imagination, and catalyse positive change.
