Tristan Hibberd

I consider myself a workshop based creative and the majority of my ideas are developed through experimentation and practice. When exploring new ideas, I find thinking in the third dimension with physical models the easiest way to work. I harbour a continuous desire to learn new processes and frequently undertake complicated projects in order to learn as much as possible.

From a very young age, I was introduced to the creative industry. Growing up in my family’s picture framing company, I would make things from any scraps I could find during the hours spent playing in the workshop. I vividly remember fearing a desk job and have continued to relentlessly pursue the arts ever since. I’ve worked on my bedroom floor to the garage and shed before finally my own studio space.

Since completing my degree in furniture design I have explored many disciplines and regularly draw on these for inspiration. I am constantly inspired by my rural surroundings in Surrey and natural forms and biomimicry regularly inform my aesthetic styles but I also enjoy letting a piece of machinery or creative process guide the form of my work.
